Foster Homes Needed!

Are you looking at all these adorable faces and wishing you could take them all home? Have you ever considered fostering?!

Fostering is a great way to help us and the dogs out, and it can be as short or long term as you'd like! We work with you to make sure you get a dog you will enjoy, and we also strive to make sure it's as easy of a process as we can make it.

Taking home a new dog is never flawless... they will have accidents, they will bark in the crate, they are stressed and high energy the first few days making you question why you chose to do this. Hang in there with them, and it pays off. Usually within 3 days they settle in. We work to find a dog that is a good fit for what traits you are seeking in a foster dog.

Adoption events are optional, however, we do require fosters to attend the event when they need to get supplies and to let us know beforehand so we can bring them there to pick up. Fostering requires you to commit to training, exercising, and care for the dog. It can be anywhere from 1 week-several months, depending on the dog. The average period of time is 2-3 weeks. We provide the food and crate, and vet visits when pre-approved by us beforehand. We do not cover vet bills we did not approve ahead of time.

If the dog is not working out, we require a 3 day minimum notice to find a new place. The more time the better, please. We do have back up fosters for things like emergencies, planned trips, etc. It's a great thing to do for a dog. It quite honestly means the difference between life and death...

We highly recommend you read the following packet to help answer your questions about fostering: Fostering 101

Thank you for considering opening your home to a dog in need!

Name: Betty
Breed: Black Lab
Age: Adult
Gender: Female
Description: Sweet Betty is an adult female black Lab who surrendered herself to the pound--- yes, you read that right, when animal control saw her roaming in the street they slowed down, opened their door, and she jumped happily right in. Betty is never one to turn down a car ride, even if it does bring her to dog jail. Betty is one of the friendliest dogs you will ever meet, gets along beautifully with other dogs, kids, strangers. She needs some more training in the house, it's new to her to be an inside dog, but she learns quickly and hates being in trouble so doesn't make the same mistake twice. She'd prefer an active home with a yard ( fenced or unfenced, but yard space) and someone to enjoy the fun naughty a young Lab brings to a home as they learn. She's got an absolute heart of gold.

Name: Brian
Breed: Shepherd Cross
Age: Young Adult
Gender: Male
Description: Brian is a 9-10 month male Shepherd mix, a smaller guy at about 40 pounds right now, and he has a nose for kids. If there are kids around, he wants to be with them. Brian was an unclaimed stray who is in foster care right now and quickly learning the house training, and is crated for the workday. He is submissive with other dogs, happy to let them be the boss. He has not been with cats. Brian wants so badly to please people and make them happy. He's still young, but with training and time is going to be an exceptional dog. He'd do best with a yard to play in

Name: Harvey
Breed: Doxie Cross
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Description: Harvey is a young adult male Doxie/Terrier mix who loves having dog playmates to wrestle and romp with. He is excellent with people, enjoys attention and company, but really comes alive with another canine to play with. He is house trained with a routine, needs a crate when left alone or he finds trouble, and would do best with an active adopter to do walks and dog playtime. He's a little shy at first meeting new people but always polite, and within 10 minutes he's comfortable with new people also. Harvey does not do well in an apartment setting and would be happiest in a home with a fenced yard and another dog to play with, and someone who can laugh at the naughty a terrier finds.

Name: Phoenix
Breed: Black Lab Cross
Age: Adult
Gender: Female
Description: Phoenix is a 5 year old female Lab mix who was put outside in the backyard in a pen 2 years ago after being a house dog, due to her owners failing health. Poor Phoenix is very lonely out there, and so the owner agreed to surrender to rescue. Since she was house trained previously we expect her to pick it up again quickly. Phoneix loves kids and is used to dogs and cats in her home. She is reliable off leash once attached, medium energy, very loving. After so long in the pen she is very much looking forward to cuddles in the house and exploring on the leash on walks. She's an amazing family dog who needs a family to claim her now.

Name: Sam
Breed: Lab/ Spaniel Cross
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Description: Sam is an adult male Lab/Spaniel mix, about 4 years old and 65 pounds, who survived a horrible past. Chained in a baclyard for years with no shelter whatsoever, he was starving to death and barely made it through a tornado. Add to the fact he is heartworm positive, and this dog has every reason to have given up. However, he steadfastly held on until neighbors rescued him and paved his path to rescue. He's got a tail wag for everyone and gets along well with other dogs, he's happy for company. He has not been around cats. Sam so badly deserves a home who can continue teaching him what it's like to be a pet, work on the house training with him and teach him how to cuddle on the couch and all the things he missed out on. He's not the easiest dog to choose in the rescue with his need for more training in the house, but he promises to make it up to you.
