Foster Homes Needed!

Are you looking at all these adorable faces and wishing you could take them all home? Have you ever considered fostering?!

Fostering is a great way to help us and the dogs out, and it can be as short or long term as you'd like! We work with you to make sure you get a dog you will enjoy, and we also strive to make sure it's as easy of a process as we can make it.

Taking home a new dog is never flawless... they will have accidents, they will bark in the crate, they are stressed and high energy the first few days making you question why you chose to do this. Hang in there with them, and it pays off. Usually within 3 days they settle in. We work to find a dog that is a good fit for what traits you are seeking in a foster dog.

Fostering requires you to commit to training, exercising, and care for the dog. It can be anywhere from 1 week-several months, depending on the dog. The average period of time is 2-3 weeks. We provide the food and crate, and vet visits when pre-approved by us beforehand. We do not cover vet bills we did not approve ahead of time.

If the dog is not working out, we require a 5 day minimum notice to find a new place. The more time the better, please. We do have back up fosters for things like emergencies, planned trips, etc. It's a great thing to do for a dog. It quite honestly means the difference between life and death.

Description: Wanna go for a walk? Play fetch? Dog park? Then snuggle on the couch and share popcorn and watch a movie? If you said yes then Ari wants to meet you and be your new best friend! Ari is outgoing, down for any adventure, makes new friends easily, and will keep you laughing every day with her. Ari loves other dogs and would love a home with another dog to play with but that’s far from a requirement since she loves people too. Cats are a no-go for her though. They are way too fun to chase and she doesn’t really understand to be gentle with them. Ari is housetrained and crates well. She is about 8 months old.

Name: Cora
Breed: Pit Bull/ Bulldog Mix
Age: Young Adult

Description: Cora is a sweet pittie girl who found herself all alone in this cold weather. She is the typical young pittie who needs lots of exercise to be happy. Luckily she absolutely loves to play and gets along famously with our other foster, Batman. She is quite the puller on leash, but is learning that not pulling makes for a better walk. She sticks around off leash and absolutely loves romping around in our fenced yard. She is a bit bull headed (show me a pittie who isn't!), but is learning "leave it" and is very treat motivated. She crates well and is doing excellent on house training (a few accidents post shelter are expected). However, while she is not aggressive, she also will not back down when challenged so needs either slow introductions or a non alpha dog in the family. Dog-savvy cats are also preferred as she does show interest in them, but really wants to play. Cats are surprisingly resistant to playing with a big slobbery dog, however. If you have a friendly dog who loves wrestling, then Cora will fit right in! She would also love a situation where she was the only dog and received all the love and attention. Cora is about 45 lbs and 2 years old

Description: Want the tea? The drama? Want to talk s**t about your coworkers? Gossip does too! Gossip is a talkative, high-energy, silly husky looking for a home who wants an adventure buddy. She is up for anything and everything! Gossip is housetrained and crates well though will scream to your neighbors how horribly sad she is about her “abandonment” while you go to work so does need a home without shared walls. She is great with all people. She likes to play with other dogs as long as they are passive and let her boss them about at her whim but does not share food or treats well with them so does best fed/given chews separately. Gossip is a husky lovers dream dog. She’s sassy, opinionated, sometimes a bit dramatic, and so full of joy for life.

Description: Hennessy is a gorgeous husky/shepherd girl, about 10 months old, who is all about adventure and fun. She loves other dogs and loves to play with them, loves to go for walks, and is happiest when she has something to do or a toy in her mouth. Once she is tired out though, she is quite the snuggler too! Hennessy fancies herself a lap dog and doesn’t even mind being picked up despite not being lap dog sized in the slightest. She is silly, sweet, and oh so wonderful.

Description: Hurricane is a Lab/Shepherd mix, about 8 months old who leads with his heart in every situation and has no idea he is a big boy. He is nothing but love and joy. He runs around with pure abandon and gives his heart completely to everyone he meets. Hurricane loves other dogs but can be overwhelming for more mellow or smaller dogs. No cats for him please though! Hurricane spent a lot of time existing on his own in a yard before so he is learning all about being in the house and he is loving the attention and being with his people. Housetraining is going well and he crates nicely for the workday. He is smart even if sometimes engaging his brain is low on his priority list. Hurricane is the true embodiment of love in a big furry body.

Description: Pop-Tart is an 8 month old cattle dog mix with the happiest, wiggliest personality who spreads sunshine and joy wherever she goes. She is excellent with dogs, curious and interested in the cats but respects them with a few reminders, and loves all people. She is doing well on her housetraining and crates nicely for the workday. Pop-Tart is learning her manners and picking things up so quickly but expect to keep working that smart brain of hers. She loves her walks and playtime. Pop-Tart will bring so much fun and joy to your life. She is such a well started puppy.

Description: Puffin is a sweet shih tzu/ maltese (best guess) who came in quite the matted mess. Despite that, he is a loving, happy to greet everyone, fun pooch! He is great with other dogs, doesn’t mind the cats, and enjoys people of all ages. He is housetrained after an adjustment period and crates nicely for the workday. Puffin is a good mix of playful but knows how to chill. He loves to toss plush toys around and is happy to prance around the neighbor greeting all his friends and catching up on the neighborhood news. He is just a love. Puffin is about 2 years old, 15 lbs.

Description: Queen is a sweet Pittie/Shepherd mix who takes a minute to warm up but once she does she is your best friend for life! She is housetrained, crates well, and used to being a house dog. She loves people, loves other dogs. She would love to be a playmate for another medium/large breed dog. She is used to kids though with her shyness we recommend older kids. She is an absolute sweetheart. Queen loves to play with toys and will proudly prance around and show them off to you. She wants nothing more than to be involved and be loved.

Name: Rudolph

Description: Rudolph (Rudy) the red haired puppy may not be leading any sleighs but he will for sure be leading his way right into your heart. He was reported to be found tied up to a street pole and no one claimed him or knew how he got there. Rudy was nervous at first to be on a leash with new people but once he realized the leash wasn’t stopping him from going and cuddling up with someone he beelined for the nearest lap for snuggles. Rudy loves other dogs and is thrilled to play with them. He met a cat in passing and didn’t show any interest in them but has not to our knowledge lived with them. Rudy is a young guy, about 10 months old. He is housetrained on a schedule but relies on being let outside rather than waiting for him to ask. He crates well for the workday and right now overnight as well. He is an awesome adolescent pooch and going to make some home so happy they chose him!

Name: Rusty

Description: Rusty is a middle-aged Lab/Pit Bull mix who does not understand how he landed himself in the shelter. Quite frankly, we don’t either. This guy is wonderful! At about 7 years old he is well past the crazy puppy stages and settled into being a well-mannered, housetrained, cratetrained but doesn’t need it and prefers to be loose in the house, easy to live with type guy. He absolutely loves to go for walks and when you pull his leash out he turns right back into a puppy with excitement. He walks well on the leash after an initial bout of excitement pulling and knows basic commands. Rusty has lived with dogs and cats and does well with all. He is loving and friendly to all people. We can’t say enough good things about Rusty. He isn’t flashy in looks, he isn’t a cute little puppy anymore, but he’s got years and years of experience being a good boy to share with a forever home.

Name: Vega

Description: Vega is a gorgeous Husky with all the husky traits we know and love—aloof, independent, silly, vocal, and a comedian. He is a typical my-way-or-the-highway husky and if you decide to do it differently, he will yell at you about it in the more hilarious way. Vega is great with other dogs and loves to play with them. He takes a bit to warm up to new people, never mean, but a bit wary. With people he knows though, he is a lovebug and will snuggle right up next to you. He is a bit flinchy with fast movements near his head or his collar being messed with but with the people he knows well that is already fading as he learns to trust. He appears to be housetrained but is in a shelter setting so might need a refresher when he gets into a home. He is getting very stressed in the shelter and has started to chew on his tail for comfort. He has been in the shelter for nearly 2 months and his time is running out. We cannot take him into rescue without a committed foster home or foster to adopt.

Description:Wicket is a 65 lb mystery mix who is ready to bring a smile to your face with his silly antics and absolute joy filled personality. He absolutely loves to play with toys, tennis balls ranking high on his list of favorite things, and while he doesn’t mind self entertaining himself with them when a human joins in for the fun he is absolutely in his element. Looking for a fetch buddy? He is excellent at fetch and even knows “drop it”! Wicket is good with other dogs, fine with cats, and great with all people. He is housetrained, crates nicely for the workday, and minds his manners. Wicket knows some basics already and is a sponge to learn more. He is about 3 years old.
